A model of Central Asian architecture
and treasure place of wisdom and truth, Bukhara still holds tremendous
rewards for travelers. From the ancient times Bukhara was the main point
of the Great Silk Road – the Road which considered to be richest
with it’s historical-cultural heritage, distinctive crafts, national
ceremonies and traditions.
Unfortunately, much of the traditional art and crafts was discontinued
or lost during the soviet time. Since becoming an independent republic
in 1991, many artists and craftsmen began to reviving their works, as
well as redeveloping a respectable entrepreneurial trade. The members
of the Association of Private Tourist Companies and Small Business of
Bukhara decided to help Central Asian artisans and craftsman promote and
expand their craft therefore it was organized Annual Festival “Silk&Spices”
in 2000. Latter for the festival was further developed and coordinated
